So...this is 40! I've taken a bit of time away in

So...this is 40! I've taken a bit of time away in the last few weeks to have time with family and friends to celebrate this significant milestone, and honestly; I've never felt so loved. My husband surprised me with a holiday in Santorini (3 nights child free! Thanks in laws!). My boys threw me the best pizza party, my parents surprised me with a trip to London to stay with us, I was treated to dinner at Heston's, sent so many thoughtful gifts, cards and messages...I felt SO loved.

One theme that ran through out my birthday was photographs. Images of history and moments captured were reflected back at me of my 40 years, and my goodness they made me emotional! Not for the time that had passed but for the sometimes everyday moments, the milestones, the faces smiling back at me and to reflect on my own personal journey. My overwhelming feeling was that of gratitude. I am SO grateful for the people that surround me and for the experiences that I've been fortunate enough to have. I am also grateful that I have carved out a career that I quite simply adore and as I move into this next glorious decade can't wait to see what it all holds.

Our calls always started with us catching up on general life since we last chatted, which I simply adored. As an events manager Claire had a clear idea of what she wanted from their day, so feedback like this is even more golden.

I love, love, LOVE weddings that bring together two cultures. When planning their day, O&J told me that the Mexican side of the family were amused/confused by the concept of speeches at weddings. Fast forward to the day and their delivery of said speeches and the whole room was in BITS! Myself included. Even the bride caught me wiping away a sly tear! This day was full of so much love. And I love love.

I don't normally dedicate 10 frames to couple's portraits...but the light for Claire and Jake at Horsted Place Hotel was just SO dreamy. Their session took a maximum of 15 minutes and as soon as we took the last shot the light was gone. Timing is SO important when it light. Trust your photographer and enjoy the time together.
