couple at sunrise photoshoot at tower bridge london

Sunrise engagement shoot at Tower Bridge, London.

“Claire helped advise us on the best time to have the shoot and stayed incredibly positive and supportive throughout it and made us feel like pros (when we were quite nervous!). We loved the outcome and have some photos to treasure forever now – thank-you Claire – we can’t recommend you enough!!!”

Sunrise engagement photography at Tower Bridge, London.

I’m not the sort of person who would to set my alarm at 4.45am on a Sunday morning. But a sunrise shoot at Tower Bridge in my mind definitely isn’t just anything. I was first put in touch with Misha and David through a friend and straight away I knew they were just my sort of couple. Firstly, because they were just so relaxed about everything, and secondly because they were agreeing to meet me at sunrise on a Sunday morning!

Always be prepared!

I arrived at the bridge at 6am and much to my surprise found that rather than being the only sign of life at that time, the embankment was full of music, people and litter (seriously people?!) with what seemed to be the left overs of an illegal party. Apparently, they also wanted to see the sunrise at Tower Bridge! Yay! This is one thing that I always need to remind myself when arriving at specific locations in London, you really don’t know what you are turning up to and have to just roll with it when things maybe aren’t as you were hoping!

Capturing the light.

Misha and David arrived slightly ahead of our agreed time so we got to work straight away capturing those pre sunrise soft skies over the bridge. I’ve lived in London for nearly 10 years but watching the sunrise over Tower Bridge still took my breath away. The colours were just so soft and beautiful. Before we knew it, the sun was up over the sky line and time was precious as I wanted to capture the sun before it got too high. Despite this Misha and David were such pros, you’d never know that this was their first couples shoot!

An engagement London wander.

Once we had captured everything that we wanted to at Tower Bridge we continued along the embankment path towards Millennium Bridge. We captured some candid shots along the way within different backgrounds so that Misha and David got a nice variety of shots. We also used this time for David to tell me about the proposal (boy did good!) and their plans for the wedding.

It was kind of meant to be!

Misha and David had their first date near Tower Bridge and also worked in that area. So when I suggested it as an area to do the shoot it felt like it was meant to be. When choosing a location for an engagement shoot, somewhere that looks great on a photo is obviously key. When you then add in a massive dollop of sentimental value we know we’re already winning.
