Gemma & Damien at Morden Park House, London

“Oh my goodness, Claire! These are amazing thank you so much! We can’t wait to peruse again over a glass of bubbles!”

A London micro wedding

I’ve been really fortunate to photograph numerous weddings at Morden Park House Registry Office but this was a bit of a special one for me. I first photographed Gemma and Damien when they were pregnant with their son Xavier. I then got to photograph him as a new born; then again as a couple when they got engaged and now finally their wedding day! They decided on a super intimate and special day with their immediate family and close friends right before Valentine’s Day.

 Family preparations at home

One of the things I loved about this wedding is that when I arrived at their house in the morning, not only was it for bridal prep but it was for the groom and page boy prep too! Gemma had the top floor of the house to get ready whilst the boys occupied the middle floor. Gemma’s lovely mum was there as well to help facilitate! I was able to move freely around the house capturing different parts of the morning. One moment I was with Gemma applying the finishing touches to her make up and the next I was photographing a father getting ready with his son on his wedding day.

 The big reveal

Ahead of the day I had caught up with Gemma about the outline of the day and how she wanted it to run. Something that we planned was for Xavier to have a big reveal to Gemma in his gorgeous page boy outfit, a twist on the tradition bridal reveal. It did not disappoint; Gemma’s face says it all! It’s lovely little moments like this that I love suggesting to my couples as they can give such special memories and capture such lovely moments.

The cutest of ring bearers

We all left the house separately and with lots of planning, and a little bit of luck, Gemma and Damien didn’t see each other before their ceremony. Xavier was ready for his big moment, not only being the ring bearer, but also walking Gemma down the aisle to give her away. It was the cutest of moments and I was so emotional behind the camera not only because of how lovely it was to capture but also because it felt like I capturing friends getting married. Damien struggled to hold back the tears as he saw his beautiful wife to be led down the aisle by his son. Once again, the staff at Morden Park Registry Office were absolutely brilliant and conducted the most perfect of ceremonies with love and laughter throughout.

All of the confetti!

I absolutely LOVE a confetti shot and will recommend to all of the couples that bright, bold colours look brilliant in the photographs and to make sure that guests have enough. Especially if it’s an intimate ceremony I would say each guest should have enough for both hands, no naff confetti shots here! Gemma and Damien took my advice and the photographs are so joyful with a riot of colours and so many smiles!

Couples’ portraits

Gemma and Damien were keen for a variety of couples’ portraits so we captured some after the group shots and then headed to their reception at The Greyhound Hotel in Carshalton for the rest. There is most gorgeous lake outside of the hotel which provided the most perfect backdrop. We took their champagne and simply went for a walk. Gemma and Damien are such an easy couple to photograph at the best of times but today they were in their ‘just married’ bubble and the happiness was beaming out of them! After I nearly got ran over by a double decker bus we took it as a sign that we should head inside. I stood back and photographed from afar capturing all of the candid moments of them with their guests enjoying their day.

Thank for having me there with you guys to capture the milestones of your family, this wedding really was so special for me to capture!
